Road Commissioner Dave LeFevre reported that recent rainstorms caused significant damage to several town roads. Crew is working on reparing Godfrey, Five Corners, Picknell, New Boston, Houghton Hill and Mud Pond Roads. Crew member Joe Walsh is resigning effective 4/29/02 to work independently.

Rick Barrows and Mark McMahon joined meeting at 7:00 p.m.

Reviewed tree policy and with the exception of immediate emergencies, selectboard member and landowner are to be notified before work commences.

Driveway permit was approved on Route 132 just past Gove Hill Road as requested by town since none was on file by property owner Bill Sahlman.

Rick Barrows will work with road commissioner to select and purchase new computer for road department and with Listers to purchase new laser printer within their budgets. Mr. LeFevre left meeting.

Police Search Committee is meeting every Thursday, 6:30 pm at Town Hall. Committee met with Police Chief from Orford to discuss needs of Thetford and also plans to meet with Lyme Police Chief. Will begin interviewing candidates.

Recycling center will post notice that they cannot accept propane cylinders and will research where to dispose properly. Selectboard plans to meet with former recycling committee to review possible sites for new recycling center.

Assistant Town Clerk Martha Howard joined the meeting to notify the board that approximately 75 dogs have not been registered in town and registered owners will be notified again in writing. Ms. Howard plans to provide first quarter town budget report at next meeting.

Board discussed possibility of seeking a delinquent tax collector to remove the responsibility and additional work from Roberta Howard. In the past that role was separate from Town Clerk.

Board agreed to establish a new telephone line for Listers Office to publish on the information they begin to send to property owners.

Selectboard will authorize road department to post reduced speed signs on class three roads and will hire the Orange County Sheriff's office to provide traffic enforcement patrols.

Request for "Slow-Children" sign on upper half of Schoolhouse Road will be evaluated.

Thetford Energy Committee drafted a letter to send to residents along with a notice from the Fire Warden in a combined mailing which was reviewed by the Selectboard.

Future agenda items to include adopting an Ordinance Regulating Open Burning and Incinerating, Driveway Permit policy, Town Hall Renovation
