Thetford Selectboard Minutes

August 29, 2005

 

Present: John Bacon, Mark McMahon, Mary Spata

 

Meeting called to order at 7:40 p.m. by John Bacon

 

Motion to adopt the National Incident Management System Standard (Mark McMahon/John Bacon) Unanimous.

 

Signed letter to Greater Upper Valley Solid Waste Management District in support of the goals of the draft of the Solid Waste Implementation Plan.

 

Motion to sign the Listers Errors and Omissions to correct the Grand List (Mark McMahon/John Bacon) unanimous.

 

Driveway permit for Andrea Alsup will be referred to the Road Forman for his signature.

 

Approved the town's newsletter for September which is available the beginning of each month at Thetford libraries, stores, bank, town hall, and electronically at http://lists.valley.net/lists/info/thetford or www.thet.net/. Community information and events can be submitted to Cathee Clement turtlepond@netzero.net or at 785-2668. The deadline for submissions is the 20th of each month. (Also, if you email your submission, please list Thetford Town Newsletter in the subject line.)

 

Motion to accept the warrants as noted (John Bacon/Mark McMahon) unanimous

Bob Walker, Energy Committee Chair, joined the meeting at 8:15 to report on the Public Service Board Hearings in Montpelier in which Thetford is a party to request for Central Vermont Public Service (CVPS) to provide more energy efficient street lighting options as well as option for towns to own fixtures rather than leasing from CVPS.

 

Motion to appoint Bob Walker as the Town of Thetford's representative to the Public Service Board Hearings (Spata/McMahon) unanimous.

 

Selectboard thanks Bill Thrane for his four years of service to the Town of Thetford as Zoning Administrator.

 

Wayne Parks has submitted his name as a candidate for the Zoning Board, which will be referred to the Planning Commission/Zoning Board.

 

Selectboard has requested that the Thetford Center Community Association honors their agreement to fly American Flags on four national holidays of Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day and Veterans Day and remove the flags following each of those days.

 

Selectboard is reviewing a proposal for the development of a town website including creation, hosting and maintenance for a five year period for $2892.60. A former site has not been maintained since its creation.

 

North Thetford residents have questioned why the streetlight in North Thetford across from the Post Office has been turned back on. Mary Spata will contact Energy Committee.
